What You Need to Clean the Stain

  • Dish soap or laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Old Toothbrush
  • Clean Towel

Removing the Stain

  1. Turn the garment inside out and flush the stained area with cold water. This helps rinse away a portion of stain before applying any other ingredients.
  2. Create a paste using one tablespoon of dish soap, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, and two tablespoons of white vinegar. Use an old toothbrush to rub the paste into the stain.
  3. Let the paste sit and work its magic for 30 minutes.
  4. After 30 minutes, rinse the garment in cold water, making sure to rub the stained area a bit to ensure that it's fully rinsed.
  5. Apply a drop of dish soap directly on the stain and wash the garment with warm water in the washing machine. For deeper stains, run the shirt through the wash cycle twice.
  6. Air dry the garment, and then examine it: the tomato sauce stain should be gone.
