Tomato sauce can make for a delicious dinner, but it can also leave behind a stubborn stain if it gets spilled. If you wear traditional clothing, such as garb or sashes, you know how tricky it can be to clean stubborn stains without damaging the delicate fabric. However, with patience and the right technique, you can rid your traditional clothing of tomato sauce stains.

What You'll Need:

  • Cold water
  • Mild detergent
  • Non-bleach cleaner
  • Soft cloths

Instructions:

  1. Begin by dabbing the stain with cold water and a soft cloth. Be sure to gently dab in a blotting motion; rubbing will work the stain further into the fabric.
  2. If the stain is still visible, apply a mild detergent to affected area, then dab with a damp cloth.
  3. Rinse the area again with cold water.
  4. If the stain persists, apply a small amount of non-bleach cleaner and let sit for 5 minutes. Then, rinse again with cold water.
  5. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps 2-5 until the stain is completely gone.
  6. Pat the area with a dry, soft cloth.

Tips and Warnings:

  • Always read the label before using any cleaner so you know it's safe for your fabric.
  • Always test a small area of the fabric first to make sure the cleaner does not discolor or damage it.
  • Never soak or use hot water on the stain. This could cause the stain to set, making removal much more difficult.
