When you’re dealing with a tomato sauce stain on your stockings, it’s important to act quickly. Blotting the stain with cold water as soon as possible is your first step.

  • First, blot the stained area with an absorbent cloth or paper towel.
  • Once the bulk of the sauce has been removed, mix a solution of 1 quart warm water and ½ teaspoon liquid detergent.
  • Dip a white cloth into solution, rubbing the fabric together to create suds.
  • Gently rub stained area with the cloth for about one minute.
  • Rinse affected area with cold water.
  • Repeat these steps until the stain is gone.

Once the stain is removed, it’s essential to make sure your stockings are completely dry before wearing them again. Hang them up to air dry or use a low heat setting on the clothes dryer.

To prevent tomato sauce stains from happening in future, it’s a good idea to try to be more careful. You may want to wear an apron or use a bib to protect your stockings.
