The first step to getting tomato sauce stains out of sleepwear is to rinse them with cold water as soon as possible. This will help prevent the stain from setting into the fabric. To get the most out of this step, hold the fabric under a faucet with cold running water for several minutes, letting water soak into the affected area.
After rinsing the fabric, grab a rag or cloth and mix up some soapy water. Then, gently dab at the stain, using the cloth to work the soap and water into the fabric. When dabbing, be sure to work from the outside of the stain towards inside so that you don't spread it to the rest of the fabric. Do this until the stain has been completely removed.
Once the stain has been removed, put your sleepwear into a washing machine and wash with warm water and laundry detergent. Follow the instructions for detergent that you're using and be sure to select a gentle cycle. When the cycle is done, hang your sleepwear up to dry.
If after washing the sleepwear the stain still remains, it's best to take it to a dry cleaner rather than trying to tackle it yourself. The dry cleaner will be able to properly treat stain in order to get it out without damaging the fabric.
