Pre-Treat Stain

First, pre-treat the stain by blotting gently with a damp cloth. This will absorb any excess liquid and prevent the stain from setting in permanently. Then apply a small amount of a gentle detergent to stain and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes before washing. For best results, use a Q-tip to work the detergent into the material.

Wash the Material

After pre-treating the stain, place the garment in the washing machine with a mild detergent and cold water. For extra effectiveness, add a teaspoon of baking soda to the wash cycle. Turn garment inside out before putting it in the washing machine and avoid using too much detergent, as this could cause the stain to set in further.

Dry the Material in Sunshine

Once washing cycle is complete, hang the garment in direct sunlight to dry. The sunlight helps to naturally break down stains and can even help restore the color of the fabric. If your garment has a delicate or light color, line dry it instead of direct sunlight.

Treat with Vinegar Solution

If stain hasn’t completely faded away after drying in the sun, you can try treating the material with a vinegar solution. Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water and apply it directly to the stain. Allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with cool water. Repeat this process until the stain has faded away.
