Step 1 - Blot Up Excess Sauce

If your silk habotai fabric is still wet with tomato sauce, first use a clean, dry cloth to gently blot away the excess stain. Be sure to press firmly and don’t rub or scrub the fabric as this may cause the stain to spread.

Step 2 - Pre-Treat With Stain Remover

Next, use a stain remover specifically designed for silk garments to pre-treat the stained area. Rub the pre-treater gently into the stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. This will help lift the stain from fabric.

Step 3 - Wash & Rinse

After pre-treating the stain, put your silk habotai garment in the washing machine. Use a gentle detergent meant for delicate fabrics and be sure to select the “delicate” cycle. Once wash cycle has finished, rinse the garment thoroughly in cold water. Don’t let the garment sit in the washing machine for too long after the cycle is complete as it can make the stain more difficult to remove.

Step 4 - Check & Re-Wash If Necessary

Once you’ve removed garment from the washer and rinsed it, examine stain closely to make sure it’s been removed. If there is still some residual tomato sauce, repeat steps 2-4 until the stain is gone. When the stain has been completely removed, hang the garment up to air dry.
