What You'll Need:
- Cold water
- White vinegar
- Mild dishwashing detergent
- Coffee filter
- Lemon juice (optional)
Steps to Remove the Stain:
- Run cold water over stain until it is no longer visible.
- Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar and one tablespoon of mild dishwashing detergent in a bowl, stirring until blended.
- Using a clean sponge, very gently dab the affected area with the vinegar-detergent mixture, varying the pressure depending on severity of the stain.
- Allow mixture to sit for five to ten minutes, then rinse off with cold water.
- If the stain persists, pour a small amount of lemon juice onto a coffee filter, and place the filter on top of stain.
- Leave the filter in place for 15 minutes, then remove and rinse the fabric with cold water.
- Repeat as necessary until stain is completely removed.
Additional Tips and Advice:
- Do not use hot or warm water, as this can set the stain.
- Never rub harshly or scrub the fabric, as this can weaken the fabric fibers and cause pilling or fraying.
- Never apply bleach directly to the fabric.
- Be sure to check the garment’s care label before treating the stain.
