Removing Tomato Sauce Stains from Silk Chiffon

Tomato sauce stains can be a tricky menace when they get on silk chiffon. If you find yourself in this situation, don't panic! With some patience and right cleaning methods, you can get rid of those pesky stains.

What You'll Need

  • Lemon juice
  • Dishwashing detergent
  • Bucket or sink
  • Cloth or sponge

Instructions

  1. Place the stained area of the silk chiffon over a bucket or sink.
  2. Blot stain with a cloth or sponge dampened with diluted lemon juice.
  3. Work from the outside of the stain towards the center to avoid spreading it further.
  4. Once the area is free of visible tomato sauce, use a small amount of dishwashing detergent mixed with lukewarm water to finish removing the stain.
  5. Rinse silk chiffon in cold water and air dry.

Additional Tips

  • Do a spot test on an inconspicuous area of the silk chiffon before applying lemon juice treatment to the entire stain.
  • Use white paper towels, cloths, and sponges to prevent bleeding of color onto the silk fabric.
  • Let lemon juice sit for 10 minutes before blotting area.
