Before you start the process of removing tomato sauce stains, make sure you have what you need. You'll need some absorbent paper towels, a detergent, white vinegar, and an old toothbrush.
As soon as you notice the stain, take a paper towel and blot the area until the fabric is dry. Be sure to use gentle pressure, but don't rub the stain.
Create a mixture of equal parts detergent and white vinegar. Apply this to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take an old toothbrush and gently scrub the area in a circular motion.
Once the pre-treatment is complete, put the shorts in washing machine and wash according to the fabric care instructions. Use hot water to ensure that the stain is removed.
Once shorts are washed, air-dry them and check for any remaining stains. If the stain is still visible, repeat Steps 2 – 4. Once the stain is successfully removed, hang or lay your shorts flat to dry.
