Satin fabric is delicate and can easily be damaged by harsh cleaning solutions. Begin by gently blotting the stain with a damp cloth. Be careful not to rub the stain as this may spread it further.
Create a soapy solution of one teaspoon of detergent with eight ounces of warm water. Dip a piece of clean cloth into the soapy solution and dab at the stain until stain is removed. Rinse the cloth in cool water and wring it out and then dab the area with the damp cloth to remove soap residue.
Repeat steps one and two until the stain has been completely lifted. If necessary, you can use a small amount of hydrogen peroxide on stain before repeating the steps. Be sure to spot test the fabric for colorfastness before proceeding.
Once the stain is gone, lay fabric flat and let it air dry. Do not put the fabric in dryer or you could set the stain.
To protect your satin fabric from future staining, be sure to treat it with a stain repellent or pre-treat solution. Also, always be sure to blot up any spills immediately.
