Nobody likes having to deal with tomato sauce stains on delicate fabrics, but it doesn't have to be a total disaster if you know where to start. Rosepoint lace is particularly tricky, as it's often made with intricate patterning and dense weaves. The first step in removing tomato sauce stains is to pre-treat them. Start by gently blotting away any excess tomato sauce with a clean, white cloth. Don't rub or scrub the stain, as this could spread the stain or damage the fabric. Next, prepare a spot-cleaning solution of one teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent mixed with one cup of cool water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and use it to dab away the remaining stain from the fabric.
If pre-treatment doesn't remove stain completely, you'll need to give the fabric a longer soak. Fill a sink or basin with lukewarm water, then add a few drops of liquid dishwashing detergent and stir to dissolve. Submerge stained portion of the Rosepoint lace and let it soak for up to an hour. Then, drain the sink and rinse the lace with cool, clean water.
Once you've finished pre-treating and soaking the stained fabric, it's time to air dry. Gently squeeze fabric to remove as much moisture as possible, then place it flat on a clean towel to dry. Ironing may be necessary to fully remove any remaining tomato sauce stains. However, always remember to test the fabric for colorfastness before applying direct heat. Finally, double-check to make sure stain is completely removed before storing or wearing the fabric.
