Removing a tomato sauce stain can feel like an impossible task, but removal is possible with the right approach. Here's how to quickly and easily remove tomato sauce stains from piqué fabric.
When you first encounter a tomato sauce stain on piqué fabric, it's important to start by gently blotting -- don't scrub or rub -- the stain with a sponge or cloth. This can help loosen the stain, reducing the amount of time you will have to spend trying to get it out.
The next step is to make a cleaning solution by combining hot water and detergent. Use a mild, color-safe detergent that is designed to clean delicates. Once you have mixed the detergent and hot water, you can begin to apply this solution to stain.
Before you apply solution directly to the stain, test it on a hidden section of the fabric to make sure it won't discolor or damage the piqué. Once you are certain that the solution won't harm the fabric, you can carefully apply it to the stain. You should let the solution soak into the stain for 15-20 minutes before moving on to the next step.
After solution has had a chance to soak into stain, you can rinse area with cold water. If you find that the stain is still visible, you can repeat steps two and three until the stain is fully gone. Once you are satisfied with results, dry the fabric thoroughly.
