The first step to restoring your skirt is to prepare a cleaning solution. For delicate fabrics such as silk or rayon, combine one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent with one cup of cold water. For tougher fabrics, like denim or canvas, create a solution of two parts cold water and one part rubbing alcohol.
Next, apply the mixture to stain by gently dabbing it with a soft cloth. Continue to do this until the fabric begins to look dry. Do not rub the material, as this may cause the stain to set.
Once the fabric looks dry, rinse the pencil skirt with warm water using light pressure. If the stain fades, repeat process with a fresh cleaning solution. To finish, humidity fabric with a blow dryer or let it air dry.
For severe stains, you may need to repeat the above process multiple times. If the stain remains after following these steps, you may need to have the item cleaned at a professional dry cleaner.
