It's no surprise that tomato sauce is one of the most common ingredients in many dishes. However, it can also be one of our biggest enemies when it comes to keeping our clothes clean. Tomato sauce is notoriously tricky to remove from fabric and can leave behind stubborn stains that can be hard to get rid of.
Luckily, with a few simple steps and some patience, you can effectively remove tomato sauce stains from your pajamas. Here are 4 easy steps for completely removing tomato sauce stains:
Start by using a dry cloth or paper towel to lightly blot the stain. This will help to lift some of sauce away from the fabric and keep it from spreading further. Be gentle – you don’t want to rub the stain too hard, as this can set it deeper into the fabric.
Create a pre-treatment solution by mixing a tablespoon of liquid dish soap with two cups of cool water. Using a clean cloth or sponge, dab the pre-treatment solution onto the stained area. Let the fabric air-dry or use a fan to speed up the process.
Once the pre-treatment solution has dried, rinse stained area with cold water. Make sure to use cold water only – hot water can set the stain.
When you’ve finished rinsing stained area, wash your pajamas as usual in your washing machine. Use the hottest water setting allowed for the fabric type, and add a color-safe bleach to the load if the fabric allows.
After running the laundry cycle, check to see if the stain is still there. If it is, repeat steps 2 through 4 until stain is fully removed.
