The first step in removing tomato sauce stains is to gather the supplies you'll need for the job. These include a spoon or butter knife, laundry detergent, white vinegar, and an old toothbrush or similar brush.
Before working on the stain, take off the overalls and lay them somewhere flat. Use a spoon or butter knife to scrape away any dried sauce that has already adhered to the fabric. Then, dampen the area with cold water.
Apply a small amount of laundry detergent directly onto stain and allow it to sit for a few minutes. This will help to break down tomato sauce and make it easier to remove.
Take an old toothbrush or a similar brush and begin to scrub the stain using gentle, circular motions. This will help to loosen the tomato sauce even more.
Rinse stain with cold water to remove any remaining detergent and sauce. Be sure to rinse until the water runs clear and the stain is completely gone.
If any stain remains after rinsing, create a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Apply this mixture directly onto the stain and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Then, rinse the area with cold water again and see if the stain has been removed.
Once all tomato sauce has been removed, place the overalls in washing machine and wash in cool water. Hang to dry, and you're all done!
