How to Get Tomato Sauce Stains Out of Outerwear Quickly and Easily

Tomato sauce stains can be a nightmare for outerwear fabrics, such as jeans, sweaters, coats, blazers, and more. But with the right knowledge and supplies, it's easy to tackle and remove these types of stains from your clothing.

What You Will Need

  • Dish liquid
  • White vinegar
  • Cold water
  • Soft cloths or paper towels

Instructions

  1. Create a cleaning solution by mixing 1 teaspoon of dish liquid and 1/4 cup of white vinegar with 2 cups of cold water.
  2. Soak the stained area of the outerwear in the mixture for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove garment from the solution and blot stain with a clean cloth or paper towel.
  4. Rinse the area with cold water.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 until stain is completely removed.
  6. Allow the garment to air dry.

Prevention Tips

  • Avoid wearing your outerwear while eating messy foods like spaghetti.
  • If you do get tomato sauce on your outerwear, immediately rinse the garment with cold water and then treat the stain as soon as possible.
  • To prevent future stains, apply a fabric protector to your outerwear.
