Removing Fresh Stains

Start off by scraping away any excess tomato sauce from the fabric. Use a spoon or a dull knife to gently push away the tomato residue.

If possible, dab some cold water onto stain to dilute it. Blot away the moisture with a soft cloth or paper towel.

Put some liquid laundry detergent on the stain, and work it into the fabric using a soft brush or cloth. Let it sit for a few minutes before washing it in the washing machine as normal.

Treating Dried Stains

If you didn't catch the stain when it was fresh, apply some liquid laundry detergent directly onto the stain. Rub the detergent in using a toothbrush, working it deep into the fabric.

Mix up a paste of baking soda and water, spreading it onto stained area. Let it sit for a few minutes before rubbing it away with a damp cloth or sponge. Rinse away any residue.

Finally, wash the jeans in the washing machine as normal.

Additional Tips

  • You can use white vinegar or club soda instead of water in any of these steps.
  • Adding a cup of vinegar to the wash cycle helps to prevent further staining.
  • For stubborn stains, you may need to repeat the process several times.
