As soon as you notice the stain, grab a towel and blot up any excess sauce you can. This will help remove both the visible remnants as well as some of more deeply embedded sauce from the grass.
Mix together one tablespoon of laundry detergent, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, and one quart of warm water in a spray bottle. Give it a shake to make sure all ingredients are combined.
Spray the cleaning solution directly onto the tomato sauce stain, being sure to cover the entire area. You'll want to give it a few minutes to really penetrate stain and start breaking down the tomato sauce.
Once the cleaner has had time to do its job, grab a stiff scrub brush and start to work the stained area. Move the brush in circles to help lift the tomato sauce out of the grass.
Once you've removed as much of tomato sauce as you can, rinse off the area with cool, clear water. This will also help to prevent any detergent residue from being left behind.
After rinsing off area, grab a towel and dry off the grass. Be sure to press down firmly on the towel to help absorb any remaining moisture and to help the grass look as close to new as possible.
