Tomato sauce is a delicious way to give some pizzazz to your favorite dishes, but if any of that sauce gets onto your jewelry it can leave some unsightly stains. Removing tomato sauce stains from jewelry doesn’t have to be hard, but you do need to take the proper steps to get it clean.
The first step is to rinse off any excess food or liquid that remains on jewelry. Use a soft, bristled brush such as a toothbrush to carefully remove any remaining residue. Make sure to avoid using metal brushes as they can scratch your jewelry.
Once you’ve removed the excess food and liquid, next step is to wash the jewelry with a mild dish soap. Dilute a small amount of the soap into a cup of warm water, and then soak jewelry for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, use a brush to scrub away any remaining stains.
If soap-and-water isn’t enough to remove the tomato sauce stains from your jewelry, try a powdered laundry detergent. Wet the jewelry and then apply the detergent directly onto stains. Allow it to sit for five minutes before brushing away the stain with a soft-bristled brush.
If detergent still doesn’t work, you can try using baking soda. Mix one part baking soda with two parts water to make a paste, and then apply it to the stained areas. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then scrub the paste away with a soft-bristled brush. Rinse with warm water to reveal your restored jewelry!
