When attempting to remove a tomato sauce stain from any garment, the best first step is to blot the stain with a clean, white cloth. This will help to loosen the stain and reduce some of the liquid.
Using a small amount of laundry detergent, gently massage the stain until you start to see stain lighten in colour. If stain is particularly stubborn, add a little white vinegar or lemon juice and let sit for a few minutes before massaging again.
Once the pre-treating process is complete, fill a basin with lukewarm water and a small amount of laundry detergent. Submerge the stain in the soapy water and leave to soak for at least 30 minutes. After this time, use your hands to gently agitate the stained fabric and continue soaking for another 20-30 minutes.
Once you have finished soaking the hanbok, wash the garment as you normally would in cold or lukewarm water. When washing the garment, make sure to wash both sides of the fabric.
To prevent further staining, hang the hanbok outside in direct sunlight to dry. This will help kill any bacteria that may be present and also provide natural bleaching agents to help remove any remaining discolouration.
