Removing tomato sauce stains from georgette material is a delicate process, as this fabric type is known for its lightweight and sheer texture. Here are a few tips to get rid of the stain in a few simple steps.
Tomato sauce is naturally acidic and if left on a fabric for an extended period of time, it can cause the dye in the fabric to fade or run. As soon as you notice the stain, take action and blot the affected area with a paper towel to absorb as much of the sauce as possible.
Next, run cold water through stained area to remove any remaining sauce. Be sure not to use hot or warm water, as this could potentially cause the stain to set in deeper.
Once the majority of the sauce has been removed, apply a mix of equal parts white vinegar and liquid detergent to the stain. Rub mixture into the fabric using a clean cloth or rag and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then, rinse the fabric with cold water.
If the stain still remains, try sprinkling some baking soda onto the area and letting it sit overnight. The baking soda should help to lift remaining stain out of the fabric.
Finally, launder the fabric according to care instructions. If the item is dry-clean only, it's best to take it to a professional for cleaning.
