Step 1: Blot the Stain

Use a paper towel or a clean cloth to blot the tomato sauce stain. For best results, begin blotting from the outside and gradually move inwards. This will prevent the stain from spreading. Change your paper towel or cloth as needed.

Step 2: Treat the Stain with a Detergent Solution

Mix one teaspoon of liquid detergent with one cup of lukewarm water. Use a clean cloth or a soft-bristled brush to work the solution into stained area. Remember to work from the outside and work your way inwards.

Step 3: Rinse Fabric

Using another clean cloth, glut the stained area with cold water. Do this several times in order to completely rinse off the detergent.

Step 4: Pour White Vinegar and Water on Stained Area

Mix two parts white vinegar and three parts lukewarm water into a bowl or bucket. Dip a clean cloth or white paper towel into the vinegar-water mixture and blot stained area. Follow up by rinsing the fabric with cold water.

Step 5: Apply a Pre-Wash Stain Remover to the Fabric

As a last step, spray a pre-wash stain remover onto the tomato sauce stain. Allow the pre-wash remover to sit for five minutes before throwing the fabric in the washing machine.
