As soon as you detect the tomato sauce stain, try to lift off any excess sauce right away with a spoon or a blunt knife. Next, pre-treat stain with a laundry spot remover. This will help get rid of some of the stain before washing.
Once you have pre-treated the stain, fill a bucket up with cold water and add some mild detergent. Submerge the garment and let it soak for about an hour. Make sure to turn the fleece garment every now and then to help stain come out.
Once the garment has soaked for an hour, rinse the garment with hot water. Make sure that water is not too hot as to damage the fabric. You can also add some color-safe bleach to help remove any remaining stains.
Once you’ve rinsed the fleece garment, you can put it in the washing machine on a cold cycle. Use your regular laundry detergent, but add an extra scoop of baking soda to give it a boost. Let the garment run through the washing cycle, and you’re done!
Once the washing cycle is complete, hang garment up to air dry. Do not put it in the dryer as this can set in any remaining stains. Hang it in a sunny spot and you’ll have a spotless garment in no time.
