Steps for Removing Tomato Sauce Stains from Denim
- Blot the tomato sauce from the fabric using a clean cloth or paper towel. Don’t rub it into fabric as this will just spread out the stain.
- Dissolve a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid in two cups of lukewarm water. Make sure that the detergent you use is meant for hand washing delicate fabrics.
- Immerse stained area in the solution and leave it there for several minutes.
- Rinse the garment gently with cool water until all the soap is out.
- If the stain persists, try applying a laundry pretreatment product directly to the stain. Allow product to sit for about 15 minutes before washing.
- Wash your garment according to instructions on the care label.
- Inspect garment after washing to make sure that the stain is gone. If the stain is still visible, repeat process from step 1 again.
Additional Tips for Getting Tomato Sauce Out of Denim
- If the tomato sauce stain is already dried, it would be best to soak the garment in cold water before blotting it with a cloth.
- Do not use hot water when treating the stain as this could cause stain to set permanently.
- Do not put the garment in the dryer until the stain has been removed completely since the heat may cause the stain to become more difficult to remove.
