What You'll Need

  • Cold water
  • Laundry detergent
  • Oxygen bleach
  • White vinegar

Instructions

  1. Rinse the stained area of the garment under cold water immediately after stain occurs. Do not let the stain sit.
  2. Create a cleaning solution by combining laundry detergent, oxygen bleach, and white vinegar in equal parts. Make sure to use only gentle, color safe cleaning products, as harsher chemicals can damage the delicate fabric.
  3. Dab solution onto the stain using a clean cloth. Rub in circular motions, taking care not to rub too hard.
  4. Rinse solution off the cloth, and gently blot the stained area until all traces of solution are removed.
  5. Repeat this process until stain disappears, then place the garment in the washing machine according to care instructions.

Tips and Warnings

  • Be sure not to scrub too hard when applying the cleaning solution to the stained area. Chiffon georgette is a delicate fabric, and scrubbing too enthusiastically can damage it.
  • Do not tumble dry stained fabrics, as the heat can set the stain and make it much harder to remove.
  • Do not use hot water when attempting to remove a stain. Hot water can cause the stain to spread, making it more difficult to remove.
