The first step in removing a tomato sauce stain from board shorts is to make sure the stain isn’t too old. The sooner you remove the stain, the easier it will be. Pre-treat the stain with cold water and a bit of detergent before washing. Soak board shorts for about 30 minutes, then rinse off the detergent. Repeat the pre-treatment a few times to make sure the stain is gone.
An enzyme stain remover is a great way to quickly get rid of tomato sauce stains on board shorts. Look for a product specifically designed for protein-based stains, such as milk, egg, and tomato sauce. Follow instructions on the container and apply the solution to stain. Allow the solution to sit on the board shorts for at least 30 minutes before washing.
White vinegar and baking soda are two of the most versatile cleaning agents available. Mix one part vinegar with two parts baking soda and stir until it forms a paste. Apply paste to the tomato sauce stain and rub it in gently. Allow the paste to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
Rubbing alcohol is a great spot cleaner for tough stains. Dilute the rubbing alcohol with equal parts water and use a cloth to apply the mixture to the stain. Rub the stained area in a circular motion until stain is gone. Rinse off the area with cold water, then wash the board shorts in the washing machine using cold water.
Tomato sauce stains can be a hassle to remove from board shorts, but with a bit of patience and the right cleaning agents, you can easily get rid of the stain. Remember to always pre-treat stain right away and use cold water when washing the shorts in the washing machine.
