If you’re dealing with a wet tomato sauce stain, the most important thing to do is to act fast. As soon as you notice the stain, grab a clean cloth and dab gently at the affected area. Do not rub or scrub, as this could spread the stain further. After blotting the stain, rinse area with cold water.
For tougher tomato sauce stains, solvents may be used. Start by sprinkling a bit of talcum powder or cornstarch onto the affected area, making sure that you cover the entire stain. Allow the powder to sit for up to an hour before brushing it off with a soft-bristled brush. For best results, use a pre-treatment laundry stain remover or a dab of liquid laundry detergent. Scrub the mixture into the fabric, then rinse with warm water. Repeat the process until stain has disappeared.
If you’d prefer to use a more natural option, you can give white vinegar a try. Start by mixing equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a bowl. Next, dip a clean cloth into the solution and blot the stained area. Allow the fabric to air dry, then rinse with cold water. Once fabric is dry, check to see if the stain is still visible. If so, repeat the process until stain has been removed.
Getting tomato sauce stains out of belts can seem intimidating but it doesn’t have to be. With the right strategy, you can restore your belts back to their original glory. Make sure to act quickly and use above tips to help ensure that your belts are free from tomato sauce smudges and stains.
