Step 1: Pre-treat the Stain

Before you start the cleaning process, it’s important that you pre-treat the stain. This can be done by creating a paste using water and either laundry detergent or baking soda. Once the paste is made, rub it into the fabric around the tomato sauce stain and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

Step 2: Wash Shoe

Once you’ve allowed the detergent/baking soda mixture to set for a few minutes, fill a bucket with lukewarm water and add ¼ cup of laundry detergent. Place the ballet flats into solution and let them sit for around 15 minutes. After removing them from the soapy solution, rinse each shoe with cold water and gentle strokes.

Step 3: Remove Excess Water

Removing as much of the excess water as possible before drying will help ensure the shoes look their best. Try using a towel to absorb extra moisture, and don’t be afraid to give the shoes a gentle press as you dry.

Step 4: Air Dry

Once the excess water has been removed, shoes should be dried in a well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight, as the UV rays could damage the delicate material of your flat.
