Depending on the type of fabric and dye used, there are several methods for removing tomato sauce stains from clothes. If the article of clothing is cotton or wool, saturate the stain with white vinegar and let it sit for a few minutes before blotting with a cloth and cold water.
For colored fabrics, like polyester or rayon, mix one teaspoon of detergent with a cup of warm water and apply it to the stain. Keep blotting the stain with a damp cloth until it fades and then wash the garment in warm water as usual.
Tomato sauce stains can also be tricky to remove from leather and other accessories. Start by wiping off any excess sauce from the surface of the item with a damp cloth. To remove the stain from leather, use a combination of white vinegar and talcum powder. Mix the two together to create a paste and gently rub it into the stain. Allow the paste to sit for several minutes before wiping away with a damp cloth.
For metal accessories, mix a teaspoon of baking soda with enough water to make a paste. Then apply the paste to the stain and use a toothbrush or soft cloth to scrub it into the stain. Rinse the item in warm water and towel dry.
