What You Need to Clean Tar Stains from Wedges

Before you start tackling the tar stains, make sure you have all right materials. Here's what you'll need:

  • A bucket
  • Mild detergent
  • Soft-bristle brush
  • Clean, absorbent cloths
  • Odorless mineral spirits
  • Cleaning solvent

Step-By-Step Instructions for Cleaning Tar Stains from Wedges

  1. Fill your bucket with warm water and a few drops of mild detergent. Submerge the wedges in the solution and let them soak for at least five minutes. If tar stains are particularly stubborn, you can let them soak for up to 15 minutes.
  2. Using your soft-bristle brush, scrub the wedges to remove any excess tar residue. Make sure to do this gently to avoid damaging the material of the wedges.
  3. Rinse the wedges in lukewarm water. Then, use your absorbent cloths to dry them thoroughly.
  4. If stubborn tar stains remain, use odorless mineral spirits to clean them. Put a few drops on the affected area and use your cloth to rub it in a circular motion. Be careful not to use too much mineral spirits, as it could damage the material of the wedges.
  5. If the tar stains still won't come out, you can try a commercial cleaning solvent like Goo Gone. Follow the instructions on the package for proper application.
  6. Finally, rinse the wedges again in lukewarm water and use your absorbent cloths to dry them. Your wedges should now be free of tar stains!
