If tar has settled on your wallet, it can be difficult to get rid of. However, it is possible to remove tar stains without replacing your wallet. Here are five steps for removing tar stains from your wallet:

  1. Gently scrape off any excess tar with a dull knife or spoon edge.
  2. Mix a solution of one tablespoon of dish washing soap and one cup of warm water.
  3. Apply the solution to the stained area with a soft cloth.
  4. Gently rub the stain with the cloth until the tar lifts from the fabric.
  5. Rinse the area with a damp cloth and let air dry.

When scrubbing the stain, be sure not to rub too hard as this could cause the fabric to tear.

After applying the solution, you may have to repeat process if stain doesn't immediately lift away. If you require additional cleaning assistance, there are professional leather cleaners and services available who can help.
