Steps for Removing Tar Stains
- Lay the garment on a flat surface and blot tar stain with paper towels. This will help to loosen the stain from the fabric.
- Put the mineral spirits and laundry detergent into a bowl and mix them together until you have a thick paste.
- Dab a generous amount of the paste onto the tar stain and let it sit for up to 15 minutes.
- Using an old toothbrush, scrub the paste into the stain gently. Be sure to not rub too hard as this may cause the fabric to get damaged.
- Once the stain is gone, rinse the garment thoroughly in cold water.
- Throw the garment in the washing machine according to the care label instructions and dry as normal.
