Step 1: Scrape Up the Excess Tar

Start by using a dull knife or spoon to scrape off as much of tar as possible. You don’t want to use anything too sharp which could damage your clothing.

Step 2: Apply Rubbing Alcohol

Soak a cloth with rubbing alcohol and blot the stain until it begins to lift and move. Don’t scrub too harshly or press too hard as this could damage the fibers of the fabric.

Step 3: Spray With WD-40

Spray WD-40 directly onto the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will help to break down the oil in the tar and make it easier to remove.

Step 4: Rinse and Launder

Rinse area and then launder as normal. If the stain remains, repeat the steps and use a stain remover if needed. Make sure to check the tag on your clothing and follow any special instructions if needed.

Step 5: Enjoy the Results

After your garment has dried, enjoy results! With a few easy steps you’ve made your uniform look like new again.
