The first step in removing tar stains is to dab a clean cloth over stained area. Do not rub the stained area as this will spread the stain and make it more difficult to remove. This will help to lift any loose particles. Make sure you use a clean white cloth, as colored fabrics may cause dye transfer.
Once you have dabbed away any loose particles, the next step is to apply baby oil. Put a few drops of baby oil onto a clean cloth and massage into the stained area. The oil will help to break down tar and make it easier to remove.
After trying to get rid of the stain with baby oil, it's time to finish up by rinsing the fabric with running water. Be sure to use lukewarm water as hot water can damage fabric. Once the excess tar has been removed, dry the tuxedo with a clean towel.
