Instructions
- Put your T-shirt on a sturdy, flat surface and scrape off any excess tar using something like an old credit card or a butter knife.
- Apply a few drops of dishwashing liquid onto the stain. Make sure that you use a mild liquid dishwashing detergent.
- Dab the area gently, using a soft cloth or a sponge. Do not rub the area vigorously, as this can cause the tar to spread further.
- Rinse off the area with cold water.
- If the stain is still present, mix together 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 2 tablespoons of baking soda until they form a paste.
- Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Rinse the area with cold water. If the stain is still there, repeat process until it is gone.
- If necessary, launder T-shirt per the manufacturer's instructions. This will help remove the remaining traces of the tar.
Tips and Warnings
- Be sure to use cold water when cleaning the tar stain. Hot water can cause the tar to spread further.
