Tar stains are surprisingly difficult to remove from fabric and often require professional cleaning. However, if caught early, you can try to remove stain yourself using common household items.

Step 1: Blot Stain

Using a clean white cloth or paper towel, gently blot at stained area until no more tar transfers to the cloth. Take care not to rub as this can cause the stain to spread.

Step 2: Apply Laundry Detergent

Using a white cotton cloth, apply a small amount of laundry detergent directly to the stained area. Work the detergent into the fabric with your fingers, then allow it to sit for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse with Cold Water

Using a cold water setting on your washing machine, rinse out the detergent and any remaining tar stains. Do not use hot water as this will set the stain and make it nearly impossible to remove.

Repeat these steps if necessary, until stain has been completely removed. Then place the garment in the dryer to finish and enjoy your clean tracksuit!
