What You'll Need

  • Tops with tar stains
  • Washing powder
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Water

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Make sure the tar stain is completely dry before attempting to clean it.
  2. Mix one part rubbing alcohol with one part water.
  3. Soak a clean cloth into the mixture and dab the tar stain until it has been dissolved.
  4. Put top into the washing machine with a scoop of washing powder.
  5. Run wash cycle on the highest temperature setting possible.
  6. Remove the top from the machine and check the stain. If it's still there, repeat Steps 2-5.
