Tar is an incredibly persistent stain, so don’t panic if you’ve got some on your delicate Teneriffe lace – it’s possible to get it out! This method should leave your lace as good as new:
To begin, use a butter knife to gently scrape off any excess tar that’s on the surface. Make sure to take care not to snag any fibers from the lace in the process.
Saturate a cotton ball with mineral spirits, then press it onto the stain. Allow the mineral spirits to dissolve the tar. Don’t worry – mineral spirits won’t harm your lace.
Once mineral spirits have had time to work, launder the Teneriffe lace as usual with mild detergent and warm water. If your lace is especially fragile, you might opt to hand wash instead.
After washing, gently lay lace flat on a towel to air dry completely. Do not machine dry or apply direct heat.
Removing tar stains from Teneriffe lace doesn’t have to be a headache. Just follow these steps and say goodbye to the stain forever!
