Removing Tar from Tencel

Start by scraping off as much of the tar as you can with an old toothbrush or plastic knife.
Put a few drops of a mild liquid detergent onto the tar stain and work it into the fabric with a soft-bristled brush.
Dampen a cloth with warm water and gently scrub stain in a circular motion.
Rinse the fabric with cool water and dry with a towel.
If the stain still won't budge, mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a bowl and dip the cloth in the solution. Gently rub the stain until it starts to disappear.
Once stain is gone, rinse with cold water and let dry.

Preventing Tar Stains

Always be careful when working with tar, as it can easily transfer to fabrics if you’re not careful.
Wear protective clothing such as coveralls or overalls when working with tar.
Use a dustpan and brush to sweep up any stray pieces of tar.
Clean the area with soap and water after you're done to make sure there's no residue left behind.
