How to Clean Tar Stains from Your Sunglasses Like a Pro

No one likes having smudges and tar stains on their sunglasses, especially when it obstructs their view. Not to worry though! This guide will show you how to clean tar stains from your glasses like a pro.

Things You’ll Need

  • Mild dish soap
  • Clean cloth or soft microfiber cloth
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cotton swab

Instructions

  1. Mix a few drops of dish soap with warm water.
  2. Dip the corner of your clean cloth into the soapy mixture and then use it to wipe the lenses of your sunglasses.
  3. Rinse the lens using cool water and then pat it dry with a soft cloth.
  4. If the tar stain still remains, dampen a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and then gently dab and rub the stained area.
  5. Rinse lens with cool water and then dry thoroughly with a clean soft cloth.

Additional Tips

  • Avoid using paper towels, abrasive pads, or any other rough materials when cleaning your sunglasses.
  • Regularly wiping your glasses with a soft microfiber cloth and mild detergent can help avoid tar stains in future.
