Removing Tar Stains Step-by-Step
- Begin by scraping any excess tar off of the fabric with a spoon.

- Gently rub a liquid detergent directly onto the stain, then rinse the fabric in cold water. Be sure to use a gentle detergent so as not to cause any further damage to the fabric.
- If the stain still remains, gently rub a little bit of rubbing alcohol on it and then rinse the fabric again in cold water.
- If the stain is still there, you can try treating it with a teaspoon of ammonia and a cup of water, then rinse it with cold water.
- Once stain is gone, hang the pants up to dry in a well-ventilated area.
