Step 1: Remove as Much Excess Tar as Possible

The first step is to remove any excess tar or debris from the fabric of your skirt. You can do this by scraping off the tar with a dull knife or spoon, being careful not to damage the fabric. After you have removed as much of excess tar as possible, you can then move on to cleaning the stain.

Step 2: Apply Liquid Detergent or Soap

Once excess tar has been removed from the fabric, you can then apply liquid detergent or soap directly onto stain. Use an old toothbrush to gently scrub detergent into the fabric. This will help to break down the tar and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Rinse Fabric

After you have scrubbed the detergent into the stain, rinse fabric with cold water. Be sure to rinse out the area thoroughly so that all of the detergent has been removed.

Step 4: Apply a Stain Remover

If you still have some stains left after rinsing, you can then apply a commercial stain remover directly to the fabric. Allow the stain remover to sit for several minutes before rinsing it out. This will help to break down any remaining tar and make it easier to remove.

Step 5: Launder the Skirt

After you have applied the stain remover and rinsed it out, you can then launder the skirt per the manufacturer's recommendations. Allow the skirt to air dry completely before wearing. If stain still remains, you may need to repeat the steps until the stain is gone.
