What You Will Need
- Laundry Detergent
- White Vinegar
- A Soft Washcloth
- Ammonia
Removing Tar Stains from Silk Charmeuse
- Start by dabbing the stain with a soft washcloth and cold water until no more tar comes off.
- Rinse the spot with white vinegar and place piece of clothing in the washer with regular laundry detergent.
- If tar stain doesn't come out after a wash, mix one tablespoon of ammonia with one cup of cold water and dab the stain with solution. Do not scrub or rub the fabric as it may cause damage.
- Rinse fabric with cold water and repeat the process if necessary.
- To finish, launder the fabric normally and hang it to dry in direct sunlight.
