In most cases, tar stains can be removed from shorts with a few simple solutions, such as white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, or dish soap. Start by using a soft cloth, like an old t-shirt, and gently dab at the stain until excess tar comes off. Don’t rub harshly, as this could damage fabric of your shorts.

Next, wet the stained area with either white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, or dish soap mixed with warm water. Let the solution sit for 15 minutes before scrubbing it in with a soft bristle brush. Then, rinse it out with cool water and blot area with a towel. If any tar residue remains, try treating area again with a different solution.

Once the area is dry, it’s important to make sure all traces of the tar stain have been removed. If any discoloration remains, you can try using a laundry pre-treatment solution designed specifically for removing tough stains. Simply follow the instructions on the package and let the solution sit on area for a few minutes before laundering as usual.

With these tips, you should have no problem removing tar stains from your shorts. Just remember to act quickly and use the right cleaning products for the job!
