Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to quickly and easily clean tar stains from your mules so you can flaunt them around in style again:
Step 1: Prep the Area
The first step is to make sure the area around the stains is prepped for cleaning. Place a towel underneath the stain to protect surface underneath.
Step 2: Cover the Stain with Oil
Next, cover the stain with a light coating of oil. This will help break down the tar, making it easier to clean off. You can use any type of oil that you have on hand, such as olive oil or vegetable oil.
Step 3: Scrape off Tar
Once the oil has had a few minutes to work its magic, it’s time to scrape off tar. Be sure to use an old credit card or something similar to avoid damaging the fabric of your mules.
Step 4: Soak the Area
To completely remove any remaining tar, soak the stained area in a bowl of warm water and laundry detergent. Allow mules to soak for at least 30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
Step 5: Dry off the Mules
Once the mules have been rinsed off, it’s time to dry them. Be sure to blot the area with a paper towel or cloth to absorb any excess moisture. Do not rub the mules, as this could cause the tar stain to spread even further.
Step 6: Show Off Your Clean Mules!
And there you have it – your mules should now be tar-free, and ready to be shown off! Follow this easy six-step process, and you’ll have your mules looking good as new.
