Getting Tar Out of Your Jewelry in 4 Easy Steps

Step 1: Gently Scrape the Tar Away

The first and most important step is to remove as much of the tar as possible with a soft bristled brush or toothpick. Make sure not to scratch surface of jewelry while removing the tar.

Step 2: Soak the Jewelry

Once you have removed as much of the tar as you can, fill a small bowl with warm water and a few drops of dishwashing soap. Soak the jewelry for about 10 minutes or until the tar has softened.

Step 3: Remove Tar Residue

After soaking the jewelry, use a soft bristled brush or toothpick to remove any remaining tar residue. Again, make sure not to scratch the jewelry while doing this.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry the Jewelry

Once all of the tar is removed, rinse the jewelry off and dry it thoroughly. You can also use a soft cloth or paper towel to remove any excess dirt or soap residue.
