Using an old plastic spoon or knife, gently scrape off all loose pieces of tar that may have become stuck to the guipure lace. Take care not to rub too hard as this could damage the fabric.
Once all the loose tar has been scraped away, you can apply vegetable oil or WD-40 directly to affected area. The oil or WD-40 should soften the tar residue, making it easier to remove.
Fill a sink or basin with warm water and add a few drops of mild detergent. Place guipure lace in the water and let it soak for between 10 and 15 minutes. This will help to further loosen the tar residue.
Once the lace has been soaking for at least 10 minutes, rinse it off in cold running water. Make sure to scrub gently in order to get rid of any remaining tar residue.
Hang the guipure lace up to air dry. Do not put it in dryer as the heat may cause the tar stains to set in permanently.
If the tar stain is still visible after all the above steps, you will need to repeat the process until the stain is completely removed.
