What You Will Need:

  • Dish soap
  • Baking Soda
  • Soft cloth or towel
  • Old toothbrush

Step 1: Get the Area Wet

First, wet the area around the stain with some tap water. This will help to loosen the tar.

Step 2: Make a Paste

Mix baking soda and dish soap together to make a paste. You want the paste to be thick enough to stay on the tar without dripping off, but not too thick that it becomes difficult to spread.

Step 3: Apply Paste to Tar Stain

Using an old toothbrush, gently spread the paste onto the tar stain. Allow this to sit for about 10 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse off Paste with Water

Once the paste has had a chance to sit for 10 minutes, rinse off with some warm water. The tar stain should come right off with the paste.

Step 5: Dry and Enjoy

Finally, dry off your flip flops with a soft cloth or towel and enjoy!
