The first step to getting a tar stain out of Duchesse lace is to scrape away as much of tar as possible using a plastic knife or spoon. Be sure to do this carefully so as not to damage the lace. Once all of the excess tar is removed, it is important to use a natural cleaner to remove any remaining traces of the tar.
One option for cleaning tar stains from Duchesse lace is to use a solution of warm water and dish soap. Mix together a small amount of the soap with warm water until it forms a lather. Then, apply the lather to stained area and gently rub away the stain. When finished, rinse the area with warm water thoroughly to ensure all of the soap is removed.
Another option for cleaning tar stains is to make a paste out of baking soda and water. Simply mix together equal parts of either ingredients until a thick paste forms. Then, spread paste on the stained area and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before scrubbing off with a soft cloth or brush. Again, be sure to rinse area with warm water afterwards to get rid of any residue.
If the tar stain still won’t come out after trying these methods, then it may be necessary to take your Duchesse lace to a professional cleaner. They will likely have specialized solvents and techniques that can remove even the toughest of tar stains.
