What You’ll Need

  • Lemon Juice or White Vinegar
  • Latex Gloves
  • Clean Soft Cloth
  • Goo Gone
  • Dish Soap
  • Old Toothbrush

Instructions

  1. Do a spot test first by applying a small amount Lemon Juice or White Vinegar to an inconspicuous area on the piece of denim. After a minute, use a clean cloth to blot the area. If no discoloration occurs, then fabric can handle further cleaning.
  2. Put on Latex Gloves. Then apply a generous amount of Goo Gone directly on tar stain. Massage it onto stained area gently with your fingers.
  3. Allow the Goo Gone to sit for several minutes. Once it has had time to soak, use an old toothbrush to scrub the affected area.
  4. Add a few drops of dish soap directly onto the stain. Moisten a soft cloth in warm water and rub gently over the stain. This should help to further break down the tar.
  5. Rinse the entire area with cool water. Blot dry with a clean towel.
  6. Repeat the process as necessary until stain is completely gone.
